I’m back with the second instalment of my Stardew Valley Diary! You can read my diary of spring here. In this new update, we have made it into summer with brighter weather, new crops more exciting village events.

1 SUMMER

Summer has arrived. I have some leftover crops to weed and then I create some space for further crops. I don’t yet add any fertiliser as I’m not sure what seeds are on sale yet! My next big thing to concentrate on this season is farming animals. I still need a silo for my pigs though mind.

After a quick jaunt into town to see what new seeds Pierre is selling, I head back to Lunar Wood Farm and get planting. I fill my farm with a variety of new seeds; this time around I can afford to fill a good few crops rather than just random amounts. I plant melon, pepper, radish, wheat and hops.

2 SUMMER

These guys seem to be having an aerobics class! How do I get in on this?!

I spend my day cleaning up my farm (it never ends) and hunting for some forage. Now that its summer, I find some sweet peas! I wonder what else is new to forage this season?

3 SUMMER

After buying so many seeds, I’m left with just 72g! I’m skint! Still, it’s an investment, no? I tidy my farm up a bit and head south to forage – but there’s not much there at all. As you can see, my farm is still a huge mess – but at least I’ve got a clearing for my crops – and not much else…

4 SUMMER

I’ve heard that certain fish only appear in summer and in certain locations so I head to the river..I only catch two fish, one normal one and one rare one. After selling some crops, I have some money left over for additional wheat and as it harvests pretty quickly, I plant more.

6 SUMMER

After spending a couple of days basically doing nothing but foraging and mooching around, I manage to bump into Haley in town and p*ss her right off by claiming I spend my days snooping around in her room. Haha. Look at her little angry face!

7 SUMMER

I did find the mayor’s missing purple shorts!

Unfortunately, I’m not good enough friends with Marnie yet so I can’t yet retrieve them from her room..but it’s solved a mystery at least!

8 SUMMER

Not much to report today. Summer is in full swing and my beautiful farm is blooming. My current project is gathering resources to build a silo for the chickens. I’m still itching to head back to the mines too…

9 SUMMER

Another day of grinding. It sounds boring on paper, but it really isn’t. Slow days spent tending to the farm are often the most relaxing. That being said, I can barely see once night falls. I’m thinking about getting some lights to dot around the farm for these summer evenings.

10 SUMMER | LUAU FESTIVAL

I’ve been told it’s the Luau festival tomorrow (whatever that is) so I spent my day foraging for some extra cash. I’ve got literally no idea what could be in store at the festival, so I’m definitely intrigued. Elliot even joins me for a spot of fishing in the river…

11 SUMMER

It’s time for the Luau festival! Unfortunately, there’s no shop at this event but I’m encouraged to participate by adding an ingredient to the soup. The mayor didn’t like the taste.. hopefully, it wasn’t my berries that ruined it!

12 SUMMER

After much exploration, I only found a bloody spa! I’ve only been here nearly half a year! It’s less pretty on the inside, but swimming in the pool restores my energy. That’ll be helpful with the mines nearby..

13 SUMMER

I’ve woken up to pouring rain and a mean storm – I think I’ll spend today and tomorrow in the mines.

15 SUMMER

Another day another high-energy attempt at changing up my crops to make them look pretty! They’re getting there, right?! What’s most annoying is the hops. I can’t place them in a block of nine like the others as the way they’re stacked, I’m unable to reach the middle crop.

16 SUMMER

Rain is actually rare in Stardew Valley now that we’ve reached summer, which makes me appreciate it all the more when it does happen. Other than making a start on a silo and planting a cherry tree (my first tree!), I didn’t do much today.

..I did of course make a beeline for the pub for a beer come the afternoon though. What else is there to do on a rainy day?!

17 SUMMER

So the other day this Demetrius dude turned up on my farm talking about research in a cave somewhere West of the town. Where the f*ck does he mean?!

Today I discovered it was a random cave on my farm – and I managed to get some lovely mushrooms inside! Thank you random dude!

My chickens laid their first egg too. How cute are they?!

18 SUMMER

The season is close to ending yet I’m showing no signs of stopping! My farm is finally looking pretty and I wake up to this amazing news! Go me!!

19 SUMMER

Another stormy day. I take a visit to the travelling market to buy some rare seeds and spend the rest of the day clearing the farm. Can you believe it’s still not completely clear? Luckily the grass now goes towards hay for my chickens so it’s okay.

I also visit Mayor Lewis during my mooch into town. He makes me laugh so much.

20 SUMMER

Another rainy day so I head to the mines. I’m currently on a mission to get to level 40 of the mines but I’ve only just reached level 25. I manage to pick up a decent sword though. I also tried to fish deep in the mines after finding a lake/river, but the only thing I caught was a soggy piece of newspaper. Oh joy.

21 SUMMER

Yet another rainy and stormy day. That’s about three days running now! At least it keeps my crops watered. I buy some rare seeds from the travelling wagon and spend another day in the mines. After completing level 30, I’m close to nailing my task.

22 SUMMER

I finally reached level 40 of the mines! I seemed to have reached some sort of ice level. It’s great timing as well what with it set to be a summer day tomorrow. The rain will finally be ending and I can continue work on my farm once more.

23 SUMMER

The sun is back! I enjoy a slow day tending to my crops, dropping some fruit off to Demetrius and mooching around the town. That night, an explosion takes place…

24 SUMMER

I haven’t spent much time with the villagers lately so I do some foraging then spend the day distributing gifts. They all seem to like them luckily – even Haley. I wasn’t going to give her a gift, but since I gave her sister, Emily, one right in front of her, I thought it would have been too mean not to.

I still haven’t found the source of the explosion yet though!

25 SUMMER

The end of the season is approaching again so I’m stepping back from planting new seeds and instead I’m doing maintenance on the farm. I’m gathering resources for sprinklers and have just hired Robin to install a well.

One of my best earning days yet!!

26-27 SUMMER

There’s not much to do with summer drawing to an end (not on the farm anyway), so I take a few days off to spend time to get to know the villagers a bit better. I’m still not sure what eligible bachelor to make a move on, but I’ve got my eye on both Shane and Harvey, but the emo inside of me is also a little tempted by Sebastian!

28 SUMMER | DANCE OF THE MOONLIGHT JELLIES

Today was the last day of summer and what a day! First I explored a previously hidden area of the farm where I found a mysterious note from Grandad!

Then I headed into the town for the dance of the moonlight jellies. On my way over, I found Linus rummaging through trash – perhaps he’s poor. I thought he just liked living in a tent for adventure!

The festival of the moonlight jellies was absolutely beautiful and rather moving – it was a lovely way to say goodbye to summer and welcome autumn.

My Thoughts on Summer

Summer has been a lovely season. Now that I’ve got into my groove and rhythm of looking after the farm, I’ve managed to spend more time on other tasks like getting to know the other villagers better, practising my fishing and becoming an adventurer in the mines.

I still find that my energy declines quite quickly on my planting days – the first day of the season seems to be the hardest, but it’s also quite exciting waking up and realising a new season with new crops has arrived!

That being said, I am an autumn/winter girl at heart, so I find myself looking very forward to the next season: fall!
