After welcoming fall with open arms, farmer Lou enjoys the season’s activities with wonderful warm colours and a spooky Halloween festival…
It’s time for the third instalment of my Stardew Valley Diary as we head into fall in the game – so the perfect timing to post this!
In fact, it’s a little weird throwing it back and posting about my first in-game year – back when I was a beginner – as in actual fact, my game is now in Year 6, with around 177 hours invested into Lunar Wood Farm…eek!
You can catch up on my diary of Summer here. Don’t forget, you can follow my daily updates on twitter @lunarwoodfarm, or photos of my farm and everyday life at instagram.com/lunarwoodfarm.
Let’s get straight to it.

1 FALL
It’s fall! Or autumn as we say here in the UK/real world. And by god does everything look really bloody lovely. I’ve woken up to crunchy leaves, dustry orange dirt beneath my feet and pumpkins dotted around town. How adorable! How do I get one for my own home?
A few of my crops died out overnight, but luckily I’d been saving for the new season so I manage to buy seeds for pretty much every crop in Pierre’s.
By the time I finish wandering around in awe at the pretty town and admiring the wonderful changes to the weather, its late. So I don’t even get any farming done! I’m excited to plant all the new seeds tomorrow though.
2 FALL
Today I spend the entire day planting my seeds. I also tidy up the way they were set up (consulting a cute little mini map I made in real life, haha)! By the time I’m done, its nightfall and my energy is rather low, so I take an early night.
3 FALL
So today I got up and planned to do lots, but I got a phone call (in real life..) and didn’t close the app properly. I knew some time had passed, but when I head back to the farm, it’s afternoon so I carry on as normal..before spotting a suspicious letter from JoJa Mart about me collapsing with exhaustion. Somehow I’d missed an entire day whilst I was talking on the phone…

5 FALL
After that confusion, I spend my entire day farming and doing little else. I don’t have much money yet – not until these new fall crops grow – so there’s not much I can do!
6 FALL
I head into town in search of buying a decorative pumpkin. I try Pierre’s, I try Robin’s…no one seems to sell them!
7 FALL
Another quiet day. I’ve realized the first week or so of each season passes by quite quickly as I burrow to farm and earn more money. I do visit the travelling cart in hopes to pick up some rare seeds and/or a pumpkin, but I had no luck…

8 FALL
The highlight of today has been going all out and buying lots of wheat. Very exciting. I also jig around my farm a little, but I’m kind of annoyed it’s not symmetric just yet.

9 FALL
I absolutely love all the town’s decorations. I think Leah’s is by far my favourite!
10 FALL
I’ve been given a task to find Linus’ basket. I spend the entire day trying to find the damn basket. Where the hell is it? Who loses an entire basket too?!
11 FALL
A giant mushroom has grown on my farm. That is all.

12 FALL
I was finally able to return the Mayor’s shorts today..and let’s just say he’s been a little naughty! Meanwhile, my crops are really starting to come through. They look great!
13 FALL
Today I make a genuine effort to try and find Abigail her birthday present but cannot for the life of me find her. By the time I spot her, she’s heading into her house (aka Pierre’s) and it’s long past five and closed up. At least I tried!
14 FALL
Today I assist Marnie in her plan to try and teach her goats to talk. Okay then…She needs an old carrot so I take her one. Then, I try to give her another one as a gift afterwards and she doesn’t like it?! What an odd woman.
Next, my upgraded axe is ready. I’ve been checking the weather and as it’s raining tomorrow (meaning I don’t need to water my crops), I also take my watering can over to be upgraded too. I arrive at the shop dot on 4pm – closing time – but it’s already shut. I guess I’ll try again tomorrow…

15 FALL
My upgraded axe means I can finally get rid of the giant tree stumps all over my farm – they take up so much space. Today I also get invited to showcase some of my best crops at the town fair tomorrow! So I set about gathering them…

16 FALL | STARDEW VALLEY FAIR
Well, don’t get me bloody started on this fair.
I arrive nice and early and to be fair, it’s very pretty. There’s a little pen full of cute farm animals (it’s not like I won’t get enough experience with farm animals anyway?), carnival games to play and even a clown. Except you can’t actually buy anything from the stalls, unless you win stars? And I’ve got my eye on a fedora hat…I then spend hours on the different games (all of which I’m terrible at, by the way) to try and win enough coins for this cool fedora hat and a rarecrow.
I finally get my hands on them then enter my cute produce into the competition. I came in second place (um, I’m a farmer, surely I should have the best produce?) and the prize is coins. Coins that I could have spent on my prizes, rather than spending hours to win them. Oh, and the coins can only be spent at the fair..so I just spend them on random crap.
I head home, all excited to finally try on my cool Indiana-Jones style fedora hat..but it looks horrid on me. Gah. It was, all in all, not a very successful day.
Also, I still don’t understand how I lost. I thought Marnie would have won what with her affair with the Mayor but Pierre came first?? Pierre is my new enemy.
17 FALL
Today it poured with rain all day so I do some mundane tasks like get my geodes sorted and drop some things off to the museum. I attempt the mines, but it’s uneventful..apart from me almost passing out in there at 1am!

18 FALL
Today I tend to my farm and then manage to complete the fall bundle in exchange for seeds at the community centre! I still don’t understand what this thing is or why I’m bringing things like this to ‘do up’ the community centre, but some little ‘thing’ scuttled off with my stuff into a tree after. Plus it unlocked more bundles and it’s kind of fun to have so much stuff to collect around the game!
19 FALL
I head to the travelling cart again today but as usual, there’s not much on offer. Is it always this way in the fall? I also do some more farm maintenance and plant some new trees. I’m thinking something along the lines of a cute orchard eventually..maybe?

20 FALL
I have learned the importance of closing the chicken hutch before I leave the farm, else the animals just stand in the way when trying to construct farm buildings. Can you guess what I’m building?
I figure with winter approaching, I should start prioritizing raising some more farm animals. Crops don’t grow in winter, do they…?

My Thoughts on Fall
A train passed through the station today, complete with graffiti, haha! I also discovered it happened to drum up lots of dirt which meant I was able to get my hands onto a fair collection of coal, stone and ore. Not bad, eh?

22 FALL
I have a busy day today, foraging and exploring south of my farm again. There seems to be a forest in the southwest but there’s no way to get to it. Anyway, I visit hat mouse and manage to replace that ugly bloody hat with a cute bow instead.
I end up farming into the night. I end up trying to get as much wood (and money) as possible to try and get a kitchen installed in the winter. Perhaps then I can experiment with cooking and using my home grown herbs.

23 FALL
I think these bloody chickens are pecking down my fence!

24 FALL
My barn is complete! I spend the day in the mines! I see ghosts! That is all…(but the ghosts are spooky).

25 FALL
Today I adopted a pair of adorable little cows in time for winter – they look nice and cozy, no?

26 FALL
Today I made my own jam!! I wonder how it tastes?
I also take a rare night off and head to the pub to socialise with the town. Tomorrow is the Spirits Eve festival and I can’t wait – I’ve been looking forward to it all year! Hopefully I’ll have better luck there than I did with the last festival…

27 FALL
I had a bloody blast at the festival. I spent far too much money on Halloween decorations and absolutely loved the maze where I won a golden pyramid!! It was so immersive! I was there and ready to enter literally seconds before the festival was due to start – I was that excited – and it did NOT disappoint.

28 FALL
It’s officially the last day of fall. I’m already sad at having to say goodbye to the wonderful colours of autumn, however I am excited to see what winter is like in Stardew Valley. I cleaned up the farm today and set up my Halloween decorations – although, of course, they’ll have to come down again tomorrow. I also found another giant mushroom on my farm today. How odd.
My Thoughts on Fall
I think Fall is my favourite season of all so far. I love the colours, the aesthetic..and the Halloween celebrations of course! I felt like this season was spent doing a lot of daily grinding – watering plants, buying new crops, upgrading tools etc but that’s not to say it wasn’t exciting.
In fact, it was kind of nice slowly doing each of the tasks every day whilst enjoying fall around me. I have no complaints!
