As if May is nearly upon us already! I find it weird that just recently I was spending so much time looking forward to travelling in America. Now I’m home again, slowly easing myself back into real life!
It took a while. In between a journey from hell thanks to a missed flight home, insane jetlag and my room being redecorated (which means for my first few days at home I was staying in the spare room, then moved back into my own room but had to spend a long time sorting everything out and unpacking actual room stuff before I could even get started on unpacking my holiday stuff!), I’ve kind of flitted day by day.
But I’m back on the horse now! Back on being productive and healthy eating..well, for the most part.
Part of getting over that post-travelling sadness is to look forward to something new. So here’s what I’m excited for in May!
THE BOOK
It’s the end of an era. This month, the final ever book in the I Heart series drops: I Heart Hawaii. I’m looking forward to the book of course and to see how it all wraps up. But I’m ever so sad. I was introduced to the I Heart series when I needed it most. I swiftly became invested in Angela’s life like she was a hero to me, reading as she dumped her loser cheating ex and made the crazy decision to up and move to America where she found not only her dream job but a dreamy rockstar boyfriend-turned-husband. It’s every girl’s dream, right? But this series stood out to me because of just how relatable Lindsey Kelk’s writing is. At times, I even felt that Angela was based on me due to her clumsiness, ability to overthink and even the way she spoke.
I have grown with this series and the characters. And so I will be holding onto this book for a while, reading it as slowly as I can. I don’t even know what it’s about – I refuse to read to spoil the surprise! All I know is that it’s (obviously) set in Hawaii. But I know I don’t need to sell it to you!
I Heart Hawaii is released on the 30th. Online support group to run the following day – we’ll need it!
THE EVENT
I love outdoor cinema, but bar a couple of rooftop cinemas in London (and one drive in!), I’ve never really had a chance to properly enjoy outdoor cinema. You know, in a pretty location with street vendors and you bring your own blankets or chairs on a green. I’m finally going to have my chance this month though as The Village Screen comes to Milton Keynes! Arriving at Chicheley Hall for a showing of Bohemian Rhapsody (and what better film to view in this location – I can bet people will be singing and stomping along!), we’ll be treated to live music before the film, a fully stocked bar and street vendors – including my favourites The Healthy Jamaican Kitchen!
The Healthy Jamaican Kitchen is also the pantry that used to be next to my office in my last job, not only is the lady who runs it beyond lovely but the food is delicious (with tons of yummy vegan options!) – so I’m excited to be able to pop down and say hello!Tickets vary from bring your own seating to candy-striped deckchairs and VIP sofas – but I have it on good authority that tickets are nearly already sold out – so grab yours today. This is an amazing event that you won’t want to miss.
Open-air cinema at Chichelely Hall takes place on the 26th May. Tickets are available here.
THE SHOW
Strictly not new for May but still kind of new (especially as I’ve been too scared to watch it as of yet), Chambers is your new edgy Netflix addiction. The show features a teen girl who has a heart transplant and then of course everything gets a bit dodgy and scary as she seemingly starts to see visions of the girl who’s heart she now has. Interesting storyline and a great backdrop of lots of Arizona-like-desert (according to Briony who has already seen it and recently joined me on a jaunt to Arizona) – so it’s already got my vote. Y’know, once I get the courage to actually watch it anyway..
Chambers is available to watch on Netflix now.
THE MOVIE
The newest Godzilla movie drops this month! It looks action-packed and pretty badass, so this is definitely one worth seeing on the big screen. Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Essentially, more crazy monsters start a fight and Godzilla comes to protect the humans. Very simple but a whole lot of fun to watch – plus it stars Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things!
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is released on the 31st.
ANYTHING ELSE?
I’ve just about finished sorting out all my bits for my room (getting rid of old junk and clothes etc) and it’s almost there. But I still have a few finishing touches to do. My old, purple and junk-filled room is now light, spacious and much more modern with a minimalist and geometric twist. I cannot wait to show you all when it’s done but in the meantime, I am really struggling to find a desk chair! So if anyone has any recommendations, throw them my way! The room is still small so I can’t have a giant office chair on wheels – I’m thinking something small, white and minimalist but it needs to be comfortable and affordable. I would be super grateful for any recommendations – bloggers with home offices, hit me up!
