February etc

I almost didn’t write this post because a) it’s late and b) I’ve spent the last month transferring my new Instagram content back over to my old Instagram which I’m starting again, so essentially I don’t really have any pretty pictures to share!

But I have had a lovely month nonetheless, so why not?! Here’s what I got up to in February…

My boyfriend and I are now well into our third month of living together. It’s amazing how easily we have settled. I have never been an organised person when it comes to decorating or storing things. So I’m amazed that I’ve managed to find space for almost everything back from my bedroom at home. I still have things to move up, but the place is really coming together now. We have a sofa and some art in the living room. And my Nan and sister took me out for a big shop for a matching microwave/kettle/toaster set and a bulk buy of things like soup and cereal, haha.

The bathroom is finally done and covered in pretty plants. I also finally got the bathmat and bath shelf I’d been after for ages, which completed the look. What shocked me the most though is how easy I have slipped into living with my boyfriend. We have our routine for cleaning, sharing the washing up etc. And I am doing an awesome job of sorting out all the bills. Apart from when I got paid on Friday and accidentally immediately went £400 overdrawn. I still have NO idea how this happened, but it’s rectified itself now..

My boyfriend only has a full weekend off every now and then. But it means we appreciate them more and actually try and plan stuff. So one Saturday this month we jumped in the car and drove over to Woburn. I’d had lunch with a client there in the week then realised how nice it is and that I’d never actually properly been other than to drive through! So we just took a slow stroll around, poking our head in the shops and stopping in a cute pub for a drink. It was just a nice excuse to not do much and just have a mooch. It also helped me realize how many lovely places there are nearby.

Towards the end of the month, my we headed into London for a gig. But we went down fairly early to spend the day there. We had a slow mooch around Portabello market, followed by brunch at The Breakfast Club. It was delicious as ever – I opted for the classic crunchy bacon, sweet syrup and fluffy pancakes. It’s my go-to order every time and it never fails to deliver. Shaun opted for the Philly cheeseburger which looked very tasty – I didn’t try any but the fries were so good. I then did what I did best and impressed him by revealing the secret bar beneath. We spent a few hours in here slowly making our way through a bottle of prosecco and admiring the quirky decor. The perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon in London.

Afterwards, we made our way over to the o2 Forum Kentish Town to see my absolute faves, The Maine, live. This must have been probably the 30th or something time I’ve seen them and they were awesome AF. As always. But what I realized is that sometimes gigs are made up of who you go with. I’ve been to gigs alone and had a great time and been to gigs with other people and only had an average time.

My boyfriend, who isn’t even a fan of The Maine (but is starting to enjoy their music) really made the gig special. Despite knowing hardly any of their songs, he made it so much fun for me – dancing with me properly, slow dancing with me, moshing down the front and even helping me crowd surf at long last! You have no idea how many years of going to gigs I’ve wanted to crowd surf but have been too scared, haha.

BRB Travel is basically this really awesome subscription service that sends you on three surprise trips a year for just £50 a month (or £40 each, if you go with a friend/partner on the Two Together plan). What I like about it is that it forces you to save for travel (I’ve never been able to save properly in the past) and in return, you get sent on surprise trips, which is a really fun element of it all. It’s all really great places around Europe too! We go on our first trip in August and I can’t wait!

At the time of writing, we’ve got 137 days, 10 hours, 41 minutes and 52 seconds until our trip is revealed (yes, you get a super cute countdown) and I’ve got my fingers crossed for somewhere like Budapest or Seville – but looking through their 50+ destinations, I don’t think I’d be disappointed with any of them!

What have you been up to this month? Do let me know!
