It’s almost time for my first-ever American road trip. Here’s what we have planned for this dream holiday.
Since as long as I can remember, it’s always been a dream of mine to do a classic American road trip. I want to rent a car and travel to pretty much every single state – staying as long or as little as I like in each place. Doing a road trip – any road trip (big or small) – is something everyone should do at least once in their life.
And now it’s time for mine!
Sort of. Yes, I’ve road-tripped around the UK before and no, this trip isn’t all over America but the point is I am heading to America at last – a month today, in fact! I can’t even believe I’m typing these words. It’s something I’ve always dreamt of!
There will be a lot of content over here relating to my trip but in the meantime, I just wanted to share a little bit about what we’re doing! I’m going with my friend Briony, who is actually already travelling. I’m flying out to LAX on the 26th to meet her, and from there we’ll travel to Vegas. Here’s what we’ll be getting up to…
Las Vegas
Vegas baby! I have no plans to bet my life savings on red, but I am honestly scared I’m going to get very drunk and marry someone in that famous chapel. We’ll be spending three days here, most of which will be spent partying! We’ll be visiting the Grand Canyon, and then, in the evening, we’ve booked a Rockstar Nightclub Tour and Las Vegas Strip helicopter ride. This includes a party limo! And lots of free drinks and entry into clubs. The following night we’ve also booked a VIP Strip Show (lol) like Magic Mike and the rest of the time will be spent exploring. I haven’t even begun to look into what else I/we want to do yet as there is so much! But some ideas are visiting Paris Las Vegas, the Neon Museum or watch the dancing fountains.
Los Angeles
Next up, we’re spending some time in Los Angeles. We’re mostly playing this by ear but there’s lots that I have in mind. Of course, we’ve got to visit the Hollywood sign and the Museum of Death, and we’ve also got a Go LA card. This covers so many things including entry into Universal Studios! It also covers tons of tours like Hollywood Home tours and entry into lots of theme parks.
San Diego
Next up is San Diego, LA’s edgier alternative! I will admit, so far, this is the place I have researched into the least and we still need to find somewhere to stay (so if anyone has any quirky accommodation recommendations, hit me up!). Hopefully, this will be a more chilled visit and it would be nice to not plan too much for our visit and instead play it by ear/see what faces us when we arrive. But from what I’ve heard, San Diego is right up my street!
Tijuana
We will be spending one night in Tijuana! I’m not quite sure why – this was Briony’s idea – but I do love Mexico and it will be nice to return, even if just for one night. I am excited to have tequila and mojitos once more, and apparently, Tijuana is a great night out. In fact, the more I think about it, the more excited I get to revisit Mexico once more – even if it is just for such a short amount of time.
The American Road Trip Bit
Now, this is where my planning comes in! For our last three days, we’re going on a great American road trip! We’ll be leaving LA and driving up to either Yosemite or Joshua Tree – stopping off at tons of oddball attractions along the way, of course – then driving back along the West Coast for our flight home. We’ll be hiring a standard car – no classic American convertible I’m afraid – but I know the moment I get in, I’m not gonna want to get out again. I’m seriously considering staying out there, leasing a new Audi or something similar (because let’s face it, I can’t afford a classic car!) and road-tripping around all of America. Hey, a girl can dream, right?! Still, here’s where my planning comes in use because it’s something I’ve wanted to do for so long now and I’m taking so much time to research and plan this part – would you like to read a blog post about this? Let me know!
I absolutely cannot wait to go on this trip of a lifetime and cannot wait to share all of my upcoming content regarding the trip. Have you ever taken a trip like this before? Let me know!
