After what seems like the longest January ever (honestly, it feels like it lasted a whole year), we are finally in February. There’s not too much going on this month. But I think where everyone was skint and in a bit of a runt after Christmas, people are almost ‘coming back to life’ again. Social plans are being made, holidays are being planned and after many of us failing our New Year’s resolutions, we’ve got a lot less pressure on ourselves and are leaning more towards just having fun (at least I am anyway).
To help, here’s what’s coming up this February.
THE GAME
Technically Resident Evil 2 came out last month. But with payday just happening a few days ago, many of us are only just getting around to buying it. I didn’t get on too well with the last Resident Evil game. Don’t get me wrong, it was great, but I just couldn’t get into it. Though I did enjoy how innovative and immersive it is! So far, Resident Evil 2 has exceeded all my expectations. I played all weekend. It’s so, so good and jumpy and immersive and has a really good storyline too. I really like how it’s still like the classic Resident Evil games but with a modern twist. And the gore. All the gore. So good!
Resident Evil 2 is out and available to play now.
THE ALBUM
I was half tempted to dedicate this paragraph to Busted (whom I love dearly, so here’s a shoutout anyway: Busted’s brand new album Halfway There dropped on the 1st). But I cannot get over how much I am loving Bring Me The Horizon’s new album, amo. I don’t know how – I’ve always found their music too heavy for me. But with the intricate mix of heavy metal and EDM – plus the fact that the entire album is focused around love – this album just speaks to me. Even though I saw them live just before Christmas and had a great time, this album has turned me into a fan overnight.
amo is out now.
THE NETFLIX SHOW
I’ve only just heard about The Umbrella Academy after seeing the trailer. I’m not sure how since it clearly has such a strong following already – but it looks pretty damn cool. Set in an alternative world where JFK was never assassinated (according to the comic books anyway, I’m not sure how well the series will stick to the origins), it tells the story of a dysfunctional family of superheroes. Even though the Umbrella name suggests more zombies-RE-Resident-Evil! It looks really different and I’ve no doubt it’ll only expand its cult following once it airs. It also stars Ellen Page, Robert Sheehan, Tom Hopper, and, randomly enough, Mary J. Blige – amongst others. And, can you believe Gerard Way wrote it?
The Umbrella Academy will air on the 15th of February.
THE MOVIE
One to watch with your gal pals this Valentine’s Day, Isn’t it Romantic is the latest hilarious offering from Rebel Wilson, who plays Natalie – a complete cynic about love. During a subway mugging, she wakes up the next morning to find herself in an alternative universe – a romcom! Skipping all the good stuff (like going on a date with Liam Hemsworth and waking up the next morning, missing all the non-PG fun), and forced into world where everything looks like it has an Instagram filter), Natalie is, suitably, very confused. I have a feeling this is a typical love film where she realises she’s been in love with her best friend (Adam DeVine) all along. But it still looks hilarious and therefore worth a watch. After all: romcoms don’t claim to be anything else and you get what you expect with them.
Isn’t it Romantic will be released on the 14th.

It always does.). I’ll be attending the re-launch party – so I’ll be sure to give you all the lowdown.
