If you haven’t already seen on my Instagram, on Wednesday I was lucky enough to attend Moonpig’s Virtual Event – from home obviously! The event saw a bunch of bloggers and Instagrammers virtually meet the Moonpig team, learn more about what the brand has to offer (and some exciting developments coming up), take part in flower arranging and a cocktail masterclass, and learn about Moonpig Moments.
I was so excited to attend, especially when all the goodies began arriving in the lead up to the event! It made me feel rather special, especially opening one box to reveal a beautiful balloon floating out.
It was perfect timing too – I’d been mentioning for a while now that I wanted to do a cocktail masterclass at home. And we’d just bought a drinks trolley that morning too!

The event began with an introduction to the event before we delved into a presentation of their app by James from the team. He talked us through how Moonpig’s app worked, all the awesome features it has and explained in further detail how special it can be to choose a birthday card for someone via the app.
I found this part of the evening to be extremely interesting as I hadn’t realized how much Moonpig had to offer on their app! As well as the obvious features like browsing cards or choosing gifts, the app also offers some exciting elements such as:
- The ability to save cards for future use – I spotted a few really nice cards I thought would be ideal for events months away from now like my sister’s birthday or my boyfriend and I’s anniversary. Although there’s not a traditional ‘like’ button to bookmark a card, if you log on and begin to personalize it in any way, it will save for future reference.
- The option to link the app to your phone calendar to avoid missing any birthday’s. I am terrible at missing birthday’s so this feature is really useful for me! James also showed us the easy process of setting up a reminder – you can note the person’s name and their relation to you and as you order cards for them, you’ll soon get recommendations for similar card styles.
- You can also see inspiration for what to write inside a card, just in case you’re not very good with words!
- With iPhone in particular, you can hand write a message yourself and scan it into the app to appear in the card, which is a wonderful additional personal touch.
- As there are a variety of different card sizes, you can use a feature to see how big they are in person, simply by pointing your phone at your desk to see the card appear on screen. This is very nifty as many people don’t realize quite how big the giant cards are!
*Please note, some of this features are only available on iOS so far, with plans to roll out to Android phones in future.
Want a discount code? With over 10,000 cards to choose from, I was very impressed. I tend to go shy away from traditional cards – I like prints that are pretty (but not in a traditional sense) or ones that have a dark sense of humour, so I do find it hard to find cards I like from the usual card shops. Luckily, I’ve already come across quite a few designs I love on the app! There really is a large varied selection.
I was also impressed with how easy it was to send a heartfelt message or card – it takes just a couple of clicks and the process of creating Moonpig Moments is really enjoyable. Some of us ordered cards during the presentation, showing just how easy it is to do.

Next, we had a flower masterclass with Roxanne from the Moonpig team. We received a beautiful bunch of Moonpig’s Luxury Summer Garden bouquet which put a huge smile on my face. Part of Moonpig’s current values are that flowers – for birthdays or otherwise – are a great way to cheer someone up during these current times. My flowers still look beautiful now, and I smile every time I see them – so I guess they’ve done a good job! Flowers are one great example of special Moonpig Moments – or a pick me up on a bad day.
Roxanne showed us two ways to display the flowers – the first easy way which was basically the correct way to remove them from the packaging and snip of the stems before placing them in a vase of water. The second way showed us how to actually arrange the flowers step by step, and we did this alongside Jenny on screen as she told us about each individual flower.

A few of us also mentioned our lack of vases – myself included. Until the day of the event, I actually didn’t own any vases so had to go shopping for one on the day of. I was actually kind of overwhelmed, as I had no idea what type or size of vase to get. Luckily, Jenny revealed that Moonpig are thinking of selling vases again soon, which I think is a really great idea for someone like me!
My mum used to be amazing at flower arranging – unfortunately she didn’t pass this skill onto me! However, I don’t think I did too bad with the help of Jenny and Moonpig. Despite the fact that it was all done virtually, the workshop was actually pretty hands-on!

It was then time for our cocktail making masterclass! This was a little more laid back and led by James from Mix & Twist, who showed us how to make three different cocktails: Summer Garden, Strawberry Fizz and Passionfruit Martini. Each individual one was super tasty, but Summer Garden was my favourite – it reminded me of a more subtle and summery version of a Mojito!
Neither cocktail was particularly complicated to make, but I’m glad we got to follow along and make them with James, as I think some of them I’d need a bit of practice with. I have managed to luckily re-create Summer Garden since though.
James also taught us a little about what makes up a cocktail making kit, and explained why each step was necessary – for example, spanking the mint for the last and final touch of Summer Garden to help get the flavour out! We also had a couple of challenges, like who can create each cocktail the quickest.
The kit I received was really professional too and currently looks right at home on my bar cart. I’m absolutely over the moon with it and can’t wait to re-create the rest of the cocktails.

It was then time to say goodbye and enjoy our tasty cocktails in our own time. I had a great time at the event and despite being all virtual, it felt like a proper bloggers event with all my gifted goodies. It really turned my day around after being in lockdown for so long!
Moonpig also successfully shared insights into how special they make their Moonpig Moments, which I think is especially important during this current time. I had no idea how innovative the app was either and have spent the last couple of days scrolling through, picking out cards I like and planning ahead for upcoming birthdays.
Thank you for such a fun event Moonpig!
Don’t forget, you can get 30% off with the code APP30ORDER when you order a card and a gift together via the app. This code is valid until the 26th of August.
