I’m 30 very soon and I’m panicking. So I made a bucket list. Here’s the second part of my 30 things to do before I’m 30 (ish) list!
I recently posted about 30 things to do before I’m 30 (ish). Kind of like a bucket list, but more along the lines off just a bit of fun thrown in with a few points to help me get my sh*t together before I become a full-blown adult. I’ve split the list into three parts – and here is the second part.
Oh, and if anyone is wondering how I’m getting on with the first part, I haven’t gotten very far yet (but considering I only posted that list earlier this month, can you blame me?!). I am heading off to do a little travelling (how can you define travelling properly?) and I am learning to get go of grudges (bar a very indirect tweet last week) – but again, this is an ongoing thing.
Here’s the second part of my ’30 things to do before I’m 30 (ish)’ list. Enjoy (or laugh at me – I don’t mind either way).
Eleven | Redecorate My Room
Let’s face it, I’m not going to be moving out anytime soon. I mean I tried last year and it was a complete fail. Sure, I’m gonna start saving this year for my own place but in the meantime, my room needs a complete uphaul with its own space for blogging/writing – especially if I am going to go freelance. At the moment it’s a purple and green mess (don’t ask), but my dad is fully going to repaint the entire room whilst I’m away. So I guess this point is probably going to be the first one crossed off on my list!
Twelve | Let Go of Silly Boys
Ex-boyfriends. Week-long flings. Tinder crushes. If this boy ain’t making the effort to stay in my life this year, I’m letting go. Having spent the majority of my 20s chasing after unhealthy boys and pining after dramatic ex-relationships, I want to let go of all this baggage and stop giving a sh*t by the time I hit 30. There are better people out there. It no longer feels romantic to find it so hard to move on from someone. It doesn’t mean they are/were special or are/were the one – it just means I hold onto things a lot longer than I should. I’ll also probably Marie Kondo all f*ckboys in my phone too, much like this hilarious article. Do let me know if you want a full blog post about this.
Thirteen | Stop Using Dating Websites and Apps
Yeah they’re fun when I’m bored but let’s face it, I’m not going to meet my future husband on Tinder/POF/Hinge etc. I don’t actually want to settle down just yet, so this isn’t a point I’ll be focusing on till closer to the time of the big 30, but when I turn 30 I’d like to be able to say – single or otherwise – I have deleted all my dating profiles. The right person will come along: when I’m ready, that is. And he’s not going to be accompanied by cheesy chat up lines or unsolicited d*ck pics either – thank god. Although I do love a cheesy chat up line, I’m not gonna lie…
Fourteen | Get (Another) Smear Test
I have already had my first smear test – a few years back – and it wasn’t as half as bad as I thought it would be. But I’m definitely due another and actually haven’t had any reminders of it just yet. So here’s a more serious point: I need to get my shit together and book another one.
Fifteen | Kiss a Rock Star
Because why not?!
Sixteen | Crowd Surf
Can you believe I’ve never crowd-surfed?? Your girl who claims any gig venue is practically her second home has never crowd-surfed. It’s not so much that I’m scared of getting hurt or losing my shoe (although that is a legit issue), I’m just worried about getting to the front and either getting kicked out of the venue or losing my original place in the crowd! I need to choose a gig, down a beer and just go for it.
Seventeen | Go back to Therapy
I’m actually in a really good place in my life right now, but I remember just how beneficial therapy was last year when my ex and I broke up. Before I stopped going, we started making progress on other areas of my life as well like how my childhood has affected the way I see and act in relationships and why I find it so hard to accept my mum’s passing. I don’t think therapy should be attended just because you’re going through a tough time or that you think you need it; I personally think everyone could benefit from a few therapy sessions, even if they’re the happiest person on earth. I’d like to return this time to work on my own issues and just give myself that extra little bit of support.
Eighteen | Spend More Time with Family and Friends
Sometimes I am anti-social AF. I’ve just had a week off work and planned to see so many people but have spent the majority of the time in bed playing video games! Maybe I was more emotionally exhausted from work than I thought, but I know firsthand how hard it is to get out of that funk once you’re having a lazy few days. You make plans with good intentions then when it comes to it, you just can’t be bothered. I want to spend more time with friends – and family. I barely see my brother anymore now that he’s moved to Leicester and although I still see my sister a fair bit, my niece is growing up so so quickly and so I want to spend even more time being around her while she does.
Nineteen | Reach My Blogging Goals
I have so many, like to improve my engagement rate, reach a certain amount of followers on my social media platforms etc. My ultimate dream is to have an ENTIRE MONTH of blog posts and social media scheduled in advance. I have accepted this is a dream I’ll probably never achieve but I’m gonna try!
Twenty | Open a Help to-Buy Account
I don’t know when I’ll be able to afford my own property. I don’t even know where or if I even want to -and I think that’s a huge issue in itself. Plus I also want to travel – if I’m going to settle down, where is that place going to be? What if I want to travel again? I don’t know if I’ll ever know the answers to these but I do know that whilst I’m deciding, it would still be useful to open that account and start saving. If I don’t use it in the end then that’s fair enough. If I suddenly meet the love of my life in a few year’s time and want to settle down? Then the money is there.
What do you think of my list? Do you think it’s achievable or do you have any similar goals? Let me know!
