30 Things to Do Before I’m 30 (Ish): Part One

13/03/2019
Louise is sitting on a bench, wearing a long flowing black dress with boho-style patterning on the top. She is holding some daffodils in her hand and wearing a flower crown.

I cannot believe I am typing these words but I am 30 this year. Thirty. THIRTY FREAKIN’ YEARS OLD. How did this happen? I still feel like I’m 21, choosing any excuse to go out and party as a uni student, picking a short skirt, and high heels and not thinking twice about the number of calories I’d be digesting from a drunken takeaway on the way home.

But oh, how things have changed. Now, I prefer nights in as opposed to nights out. When I do get dragged from my house, 85% of the time I’m in trousers and a ‘nice top’ (although, fair play to me, it’s usually wet look faux leather as opposed to jeans), I never wear heels (I can’t even remember the last time I wore heels) and as for the drunken takeaway…well, who am I kidding, I still have a drunken takeaway nearly every single week!

But since I am going to be an actual fully-fledged adult, I thought it might be fun to make a list of 30 things to do before I’m 30 (in no particular order). Here’s my first lot of aims.

I’m getting there…but when I switched over from banks I got rid of one overdraft and ended up with another! It’s definitely a lot smaller and I still manage to save but having an overdraft hanging over me definitely isn’t the best thing.

I’m one of these people who will b*tch about something that annoys me but insist I’m over it…maybe I think I am, but subconsciously? Probably not. I’ve taken a lot of time this past year to notice how hate and anger towards other people makes me look and feel. It makes me come across as bitter and weak, and, hating on someone does not affect them in any way whatsoever. It’s time to let go of all those feelings. Yeah, it sucks well-wishing someone who probably doesn’t deserve it – especially if they hurt you – but you can be the bigger man (or woman) and let go.

This has been on my bucket list for a few years now..I just need to find someone to do it with. You need three people: my siblings and I would be the perfect team but I haven’t had much luck convincing them so far…

Luckily, I’m getting there thanks to Lookiero but I’m still holding onto some outfits that don’t fit, that I’m keeping for memories or that just don’t work anymore – and I’ve even KonMarie’d my wardrobe twice already this year…

I want loads of tattoos, but maybe it would be nice to get one specifically to signify my turning 30. Not because it’s a huge feat or anything, but because in all honesty, I’m so damn clumsy or get myself into so much trouble that I am surprised I’ve survived this long.

Yes I’ve travelled before, both around a country and alone on weekends away. But I think it’s about time I really give into that urge to take some time out and just see where the world takes me. I don’t want to take an extended holiday, or cram a year of travelling into one week. I want to book a plane (or train!) ticket to somewhere one way, pack a backpack and leave, honestly not knowing when I’ll come back. Even if I only last a month, having that freedom is something I crave so badly right now, especially with no responsibilities. Watch this space.

Sam and Dean are bae. There are a ridiculous amount of seasons to watch. I really need to get my arse in gear = end of.

For god’s sake Louise, you’ve been writing/talking about this thing for six years now and you know it’s a good idea – so get out there and prove it. If it fails? It doesn’t matter. At least you’ve tried. But just bloody finish the damn thing.

Another thing I’ve tried and failed at multiple times over the last few years. It’s only 30 days long! I can commit to exercise for 30 days. Although I was thrown when I realized it wasn’t just squats, so I can understand why I have failed in the past..

Because, why not?!

I like to think that the majority of these are doable, but what do you think? Have you been in a similar position where you’ve made a 30 things to do before I’m 30 bucketlist? Let me know!
