Though it isn’t my birthday until the 23rd – and a big birthday at that considering I’m turning 30 – eek! – some of my boyfriend and I’s Christmas plans included a Christmas/Birthday visit to Warwick Castle last week.
I’ve spoken on this blog before about how much I love Warwick Castle – I used to visit a lot as a child and it’s one of the most beautiful places to visit all year round. The grounds are absolutely stunning in the summer, especially with the beautiful river outback and the colourful roaming Peacocks, but in winter, though the trees aren’t as colourful, the castle really shines with all it’s wonderful Christmas decorations.

The castle itself was actually pretty quiet when we visited on a winters weekday, but we managed to do pretty much everything on offer (bar the Dungeons). So this post is likely going to be photo heavy!
Warwick Castle is one place that has lots of little subtle decorations all around its grounds, with seasonal garlands amongst many walls and buildings and beautiful twinkling fairy lights everywhere.

Of course, it’s the displays inside the castle that really steals the show though!
I love seeing manor houses and castles decorated for Christmas – I actually find it really fascinating to see all the differently decorated trees – the bigger the better!
Seeing all the big trees got me really excited for next Christmas, as my boyfriend and I’s new house has huge high ceiling beams, meaning we can go for a really tall tree for our first official Christmas in the house! I definitely took time to mentally note down some ideas whilst wandering around the castle.

We were also supposed to go ice skating but my boyfriend a) can’t ice skate and b) somehow walked into a sign on his way into the castle (it was hilarious to see but unfortunately he did actually really hurt his leg bless him). I didn’t fancy skating around like a loser by myself (the rink was filled with adorable couples being romantic) so it was a shame we didn’t get to have a go on the ice…but regardless it was a really lovely (and cold!) day.

…and that concludes our trip to Warwick Castle! It was a lovely early celebration of my birthday – but of course, the festivities aren’t over yet! We’re heading into London tomorrow for a photography event in the evening but may head down earlier for a mooch around Winter Wonderland or some Christmas markets. Friday we’re going out for a Christmas dinner just us two as we obviously will be spending Christmas day with our families, and on Sunday Shaun is meeting my family and I for what I’ve been told is a birthday dinner – but everyone is so hush hush about it so I’m definitely quite suspicious of what is planned!
I have a couple more blog posts to throw up within the next week or so but for those of you who are switching off from social media over Christmas – Happy Holidays!
