I’m quite lucky – I’ve got it pretty good at home. We have a good sized and modern bathroom which is bright, stylish and has not only a genuinely relaxing shower but a bath with actual jets and lights in it! When I’m ready to relax, I go all out with the bath bombs, candles and with overhead light off but underwater lights on, it really does feel like a spa.
With wanting to move out into my own place in the near future though, I’m no fool. I know I’m likely to end up with a small bathroom or skimp on having a bathtub and just stick with a small shower. Luckily, my first place is more than likely to just be a starter place for me and I am forever heading to Pinterest for inspiration on how to utilize small bathrooms.

BRIGHT COLOURS
For a small space, bright and airy colours are essential. White or cream helps open up a room and makes it look a lot larger than it actually is, so white tiles and a minimal look to a bathroom can really help it feel less cluttered. If you must inject colour into the room, do stick to just one or two softer shades, or use plants for a more urban feel.
MINIMAL ACCESSORIES
A bathroom is a place where most accessories or ‘bits and bobs’ end up dumped; medication, makeup, hair styling products, toiletries..but other than toiletries and perhaps medication, is there any need for your makeup or hair styling products to be in a small bathroom? If it can be moved elsewhere like your bedroom, then do so. Little ‘bits and bobs’ can add up and go from a few accessories to suddenly looking like cluttered junk, so think carefully about what you store in your bathroom. If you must keep some things in there, keep them hidden away in a subtle basin or shelf.
INVEST IN SIMPLE STORAGE
As explained in my last point, storage can be tricky not only in bathrooms but small rooms in general. If you’ve got a bulky mirror/storage cabinet or an under the sink basin, it might be worth swapping these out for something a lot more simple like those stylish ladder shelves that are all the rage right now. Use versatile baskets to store stuff like loo roll and the like, but don’t be afraid to have it on show with nice storage as opposed to hidden away in a bulky storage unit.
