As a huge fan of Halloween, I wanted to share my Halloween homeware haul and share how easy it is to add character to a rented space with the right spooky accessories.
Now that I live alone, I can decorate my space as spooky as I want! Each year, Halloween accessories go on sale earlier and earlier in the shops (not that I’m complaining!) and I find it pretty funny that I bought most of my stuff on a sunny afternoon in August this year!
For once, I’ve tried to go for a consistent theme, rather than just a whole bunch of random and odd-coloured Halloween accessories – so I thought I’d show them here.

On top of my chest of drawers, I’ve got these two cute pumpkins from TK Maxx. It took me ages to decide which ones I wanted as there were a total variety on sale from the really scary to the kitsch. I decided on this plush deep red suede pumpkin and found this bigger gold sequined one that matched. My little skull candle is a set of six which I’m actually too scared to light and ruin, haha, and the ‘Dark Oud’ candle was also from TK Maxx.
The silver candle holder is quite old and I think is from Tiger, whereas the tall purple candle came as part of our gifted date experience with Box42 dates.

These wonderful autumn leaves hang above my bed and on my curtain rail. I wasn’t actually going to get these as I believe they cost about £12 and I knew I could make them cheaper myself, but I couldn’t resist. We actually bought these at a National Trust shop on a day out in Northamptonshire recently (Canons Ashby to be exact), and I like that when I see them I’m reminded of that day out.

Yet more candles! I’m pretty sure I have about five Halloween candles from TK Maxx now that more or less taste the same.
My ‘rest in pieces’ and ‘Happy Halloween’ cushions (seen better in another photo) are both from Homesense. The faux leather cushion with mini skulls is a really old purchase from H&M.

Finally, I’ve also got my huge Gingerbread candle from B&M, which I purchase a new one of every year. You can also see a close up here of one of my skull candles. The ‘zombies welcome’ frame is actually something I cross-stitched myself (but the design isn’t mine), and popped into this cool frame from TK Maxx.
I’m pretty pleased at how much difference these accessories make as well, considering it’s a rented house. Halloween is one of the best ways to put your mark on your space as a renter as the funky accessories provide a lot of character to a place.

Here you can see how everything looks set up, more or less, with the Halloween cushions, the candles on the windowsill and the autumn bunting above! I don’t have a ton of space in this room so I really had to cut back and avoid buying too much stuff as it’s got to the point now where every surface in this room has some sort of Halloween candle on it!
Luckily, most of this stuff can be kept and reused for years to come – particularly the cushions and felt pumpkins. I’m also doing a lot of spooky cross stitch at the moment that will no doubt be added to the collection and placed somewhere on show – if I finish my designs in time for Halloween of course.
That’s about it really! I’m pretty proud of myself for not going over the top and actually managing to buy good pieces this year as opposed to loads of over the top Halloween tat (not that there’s anything wrong with that for the holiday itself!), and it’s made the room look really tasteful (I think, anyway!), despite being rented.
