5 Music Festivals on My Summer Bucket List

16/02/2024
Louise is standing in front of a huge purple sign at Boomtown Music Festival. The sign reads 'people who love freedom will in the end be free' by Simon Bolivar. She is wearing a short pale pink patterned dress with a bright yellow jacket.

For the first time in what seems like forever, I’m genuinely happy to see the arrival of spring. The winter of 2023 into 2024 really took its toll on me and for the first time, I noticed a steady decline in motivation and mood this winter. So the arrival of spring has made me feel so happy and has got me so excited for summer and the rest of 2024.

I’ve spent the last few weeks planning all my 2024 adventures and adding lots of great events and things to do to my summer bucket list. One thing I want to do this year is go to another music festival! I haven’t been to a proper music festival in so many years now and I’m really craving the experience again.

I’ve also been using apps like Skiddle to check out and book last-minute festivals this weekend. Skiddle is one of my favourite apps for getting tickets for events because not only do I find really quirky experiences on there but it’s really easy to use too!

Here are the music festivals and events that are on my 2024 summer bucket list!

Formidable Joy | Music | The July Playlist | twenty one pilots | Pale Waves | Post Malone | You Me At Six | The 1975 | New Music | Playlist

Lost Village is an immersive music festival guaranteed to have you tapping into your spiritual side. Though the music is mainly dance music, there’s also comedy, fine dining, meditation, a lakeside spa and creative workshops. It’s entirely surreal and immersive. It’s also one of the prettiest festivals too – think ribbon hanging from trees in a forest, teepee tents and abandoned chapels working as a stage for top DJs. 2024’s line-up includes Midland, Ben UFO and Maribou State. Do I know any of these artists? No. Am I still going to try and go? Hell yes! Like Boomtown Fair, Lost Village is definitely about so much more than just the music.

I fell in love with Boomtown Fair when I first attended back in 2018. At the time, I had never experienced anything like it and I adored how crazy and offbeat it was. I loved that it was more than just a music festival. In fact, it was more like a crazy trippy experience with art and immersive events thrown in. I was really gutted to not get tickets in 2022 either. After being cancelled for two years due to Covid, the festival launched an entirely new storyline in 2022. The line-up hasn’t yet been announced for Chapter Three: Revolution of Imagination, but I have no doubt it’ll be amazing.

Isle of Wight festival has actually been on my bucket list for a few years now – not least because of the gorgeous setting and location of the festival! With top acts such as The Prodigy, McFly and Natalie Imbruglia in the 2024 line-up, there’s something for everyone. Personally, I’d be there to see Scouting For Girls, Feeder and Green Day! What an amazing line-up!

In all honesty, I’m in two minds about this festival. I have been going to Slam Dunk South for many years now and I love it because it’s local and it’s only a day festival, so it’s really convenient for me. The line-up is always amazing too, filled with my favourite rock bands and pop-punk artists. But in recent years, it just hasn’t been as good. Ticket prices have gotten more expensive and the new location of Hatfield Park has caused the experience to go downhill too. Last year there were so many traffic jams getting into the festival that people missed their favourite artists! For 2024, top bands such as You Me At Six (their final festival!) The All-American Rejects and State Champs are playing. Though it’s expensive, I’m tempted to go for The All-American Rejects and Boys Like Girls alone. I LOVE Boys Like Girls and I’m so happy they have reformed, so I’ll be gutted if I miss these (and AAR). At the moment though, I’m holding off on buying tickets as I’m hoping they’ll both announce a UK tour and I can get tickets for that instead..!

Finally, I’m hoping 2024 may finally be the year I make it to Download Festival. I have always wanted to go but I’ve held off on previous years as I have found the majority of the line-ups to be a bit too heavy for me. That being said, I’m still annoyed at myself for not booking tickets for previous years when artists such as The Maine, Twenty One Pilots and Machine Gun Kelly have played. This year, Fall Out Boy are performing, as well as SUM41, Bowling For Soup and Busted. I can‘t miss this epic line-up!

I’m really hoping I can make it to at least one of these festivals in 2024. I’m hoping now that I’ve written this blog post and added them all to my summer bucket list, I’ve manifested it enough to happen!

What’s on your bucket list this year? Let me know!
