From visiting Cambridge to moving home – January has been interesting, to say the least! Here’s what I’ve been getting up to this month.
Welcome to my new feature! My blog has always been a lifestyle blog at heart and I’ve never had any issues with sharing personal posts about my life. Especially things like what I’ve been up to, my thoughts and feelings on things or even my dating life! I want to make sure this element of my blog is one thing that never changes. So I’m launching a monthly life update post. Whether or not I manage to update it every month remains to be seen though. As my life isn’t always too exciting!
But here’s a sum-up of this past month.
TURNING 30
Technically I turned 30 in December – not January. But it was such a lovely birthday that I have to mention it. My boyfriend took me to Warwick Castle for the day in mid-December. Though it was cold and quiet, we enjoyed strolling the grounds and exploring inside the castle. The castle was decorated ever so beautifully for Christmas. Then the day before my birthday, my sister arranged a surprise for me. My family and I did an escape room which was so much fun. I was taken back of how good my Dad was!
Then we went for a meal where more of my family and my boyfriend joined us. It was really nice. On my birthday I just chilled at home and we had a pretty quiet Christmas. Do I feel different since turning 30? I actually do. I feel a lot more grown-up and ‘adult-like’ haha but this might be down to my life circumstances as opposed to turning 30.
NYE
This is so sad, but I’ve never properly had a glam NYE or someone to kiss on NYE. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve had some great NYEs like when I went to a house party or when my sister took me to Paris. But I’ve never had that special NYE kiss with a special someone. I did once celebrate NYE with an ex, but we spent the entire time arguing so that doesn’t count.
This time around, my boyfriend and I went to an exclusive club in Cambridge for a 1920s-themed event. Despite my dress not arriving on time and it being too pricey to properly get drunk, it was such a great night. The entertainment was great and everyone made a really good effort to dress up. It was just so nice to spend it with my boyfriend and see in the new year together with all the great things we have planned for 2020.
It was a really special night for me. The following day we explored Cambridge by foot. Though we didn’t do anything except walk around and have a really nice sandwich in an independent coffee shop for lunch, it was actually a nice day and one I’ll remember for a long time.
MOVING HOME
The biggest change in January has been moving home and moving in with my boyfriend! It’s been absolutely wonderful. I find it amazing living with him and it’s great to have more independence. I just love how we’re making a home for ourselves. It’s definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made in a long time.
STARTING A NEW/OLD JOB
I also went back to an old job! Though it’s challenging, it’s one job I’ve had that I’ve actually made a career out of and can see myself growing with the role. I’m happy to be back where I was this time in 2019 and it actually feels more like a step forward as opposed to backward. It’s one decision I wasn’t sure about – but I definitely made the right choice to return.
THE MURDER EXPRESS
My sister got me tickets to Funicular’s amazing immersive dining show, The Murder Express. I won’t tell you what went down as that would ruin the surprise – but let me tell you, the food was delicious! Honestly, it was some of the best food I’ve never had in my life. And the attention to detail was spot on too!
So that is how my January has been! Apart from work and The Murder Express, much of it has been spent settling into the new home and setting up too many bills to count. It’s been really busy – but in a good way!
How has your January been? Let me know!
