In light of my first LOTW in like, ten years (okay, I lie, a few years!), I must admit I’ve slowly gotten back into blogging about fashion. So when JD Williams got in touch to ask me if I wanted to review a few of their items, I was pleased as punch!

I’ve definitely gotten more into fashion again since working at H&M again too, choosing to style and mix up my outfits more instead of just choosing clothes based on comfort.

It didn’t take me long to decide what I wanted from JD Williams; two cute jumpers for winter and a gorgeous feminine pair of winter boots. I only really have ‘biker’ boots or my Converse to wear during winter, so I knew a more durable but stylish pair of ankle boots would go down well.

I’ve wanted a pair of boots like this for a while but could never find a pair quite right and I was always worried they’d end up being uncomfortable. These ones are a dream though; they’re really warm and comfy on the inside, keeping my toes nice and toasty. They’re super versatile too and you barely notice the heel. My feet only started to ache a little after a long day walking around Waddesdon Manor, which is a feat for me as usually any form of heel has my feet in pain within the hour!

I also chose this sweet Oasis embroidered jumper. I bought a lot of thick and oversized jumpers for work recently so I thought it would be wise to pick a lighter and more stylish jumper for days out or when the weather isn’t too cold. Floral embroidery is really in right now so not only is this jumper really versatile but it’s bang on trend too. It has a sweet bow detail at the back and I also love the ruffle cuffs; so simple but sweet.

As well as the black floral jumper, I also chose a looser light blue one with similar cuffs. This one is really soft and girly which I like and it’s so simple but stylish that I wish I’d ordered it in a few other colours too! It’s a really comfy fit and although it looks bright in the photos, in reality it’s not so harsh on the eyes and is more like a versatile icy blue – perfect for winter.

Overall, I’m really pleased with my picks. They’re good quality timeless pieces and I’ll certainly be getting a lot of wear out of them this winter. I think JD Williams are fast becoming one of my new favourite brands too – especially for footwear!

Oh hello, cold weather. As much as I love summer, I have anticipated this chilly but somewhat comforting weather for a long time. Why? Because it’s finally an excuse to wear chunky knitwear, oversized jumpers and genuinely overly comfy clothes without giving a damn what you look like.
In celebration, I’ve put together a list of five of my favourite jumpers for autumn right now.

Formidable Joy | UK Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Blog | Fashion | 5 of the best fluffy knitwear for autumn | Jumpers | H&M | New Look | Mango | Next | Topshop | Autumn fashion

ONE
Stripes are massive right now, so it’s only natural that this nautical striped jumper must be purchased for the winter season. Oversized and cosy, the design will spruce up any outfit and would look best simply with a pair of skinny fit jeans and chunky boots: simple as.

TWO
I adore this loose knit jumper, it looks super soft and easily fashioned. The pale pink is a nice difference to the usual winter jumper colours (grey, cream etc), which means it’s super versatile. It’s a nice length too, meaning a pair of high waisted trousers would go perfectly, but if you really want to stand out, try tucking it into a leather skirt for evening plans or faux leather trousers for an edgy take.

THREE
If you have me on insta, you’ll know that I LOVE this jumper. The story is that a lady came into my store wearing it a few weeks back and told me she’d purchased it from New Look next door that very day. So naturally I headed over to check it out and by the following payday, it was all mine. I really love the autumn colours and it looks like it consists of that scratchy material; however it’s one of the softest jumpers I’ve ever owned. I went a size up to feel extra cosy, but on days when it’s a little warmer, I roll the sleeves up. It’s a great fit too.

FOUR

This sweater has a nice seasonal feel to it with just the right amount of sparkle, meaning it’s great for any chilly Christmas events coming up but can also be worn down for work. The model pairs it with a suede skirt which I think works well, but again, for really lazy day, a comfy pair of jeans would suit it well.

FIVE
Finally, I really love this slightly preppy jumper. The simple but stand out stitch design makes it just that bit different, meaning whatever you wear it with, it’ll spruce it up. Even when totally dressed down, this jumper will give any outfit a stylish twist. As Topshop suggests, a clashing checked pair of trousers would complete the look, but for something less out there, a printed pair of trousers would also suit.

I’ve tried to shy away from the typical winter jumper offerings this year, and it just goes to show that you don’t always have to wear an ill-fitting bland jumper to keep warm this winter. What do you think? Do you have your eye on any particular knitwear for autumn? Let me know!

Every now and then I stumble across a new brand that I fall absolutely head over heels for. This time, I discovered the brand via Facebook advertising, and that brand is the edgy but sophisticated Little Lies.

The brand is described as offering ‘boho’ fashion, home and accessories but I also think some of their things are really quirky and totally up my street for being a bit different. The name, Little Lies, comes from the classic Fleetwood Mac song and they have the most amazing ‘favourite things’ list.

I mean who doesn’t love number seven? It’s one of my favourite feelings/experiences in the whole world…
The website has a thriving music section where artists are featured and playlists are created, which I love, and they even have their own blog.
Skulls and skeletons feature regularly so, yeah, I also love that obviously!
Although pretty much everything from the site is to die for, I’m particularly lusting after their homeware range. Here are some things (across the whole site) that I really want right now.

ONE
This cute but eye-catching little necklace is a stunner. Dipped in 24 carat gold and otherwise completely natural, this necklace gives off an edgy-but-boho feel. What’s great is that each product differs ever so slightly (due to the Chrysoprase being natural), which means each one is one of a kind.

TWO
This desert skull jewellery dish is small but that doesn’t make it any less special. It’s perfect for rings and any other small bits & bobs of jewellery and I love that it’s a desert skull, meaning it’ll no doubt match my floral cardboard stag’s head I aim to one day get. The gold horns give it a real sophisticated vibe too.

THREE
Oh my. These hilarious but cool candles are what first drew me to the brand; of course my favourite is the rock hand but how cool are the peace ones and swearing one too? These would look great on any mantlepiece and would also double up as a great conversation starter. Plus, the colours they come in are uber cool too; gold, white and silver. They just need to launch a black one now – or would that be too obvious? You can buy all three, the pair or a single one.

FOUR
Another skull, of course. This skull candle jar is really something and I love that once the candle melts, you can use it for something else (my bet’s on cool cocktails). The wax is actually natural soy wax (so vegan!) and burns for up to 40 hours. There are also bigger skull candles available too (as in not in a jar), but I like that you can get a second use out of this.

FIVE
I’ve only had a quick look at the fashion but this playsuit immediately caught my eye. The model is totally rocking it with an oversized hat and loose curls, but the floral pattern can mean you can go from boho-rocker to super girly and sophisticated with just a change of accessories. The playsuit is aptly named ‘Stone Roses Playsuit’, and it’s only £34 which is a total bargain; I’d have expected it to be at least £40…!

These are just five products I’ve got my eye on from my new favourite brand, Little Lies, but I haven’t even properly looked through the site yet! The fashion is really versatile and wearable, no matter what your style is, and I love that the homeware is so different without coming across as tacky or trying too hard.

Have you checked out Little Lies yet? What do you think? Let me know!

I’m kind of over summer.

There, I said it.
Don’t get me wrong; I’ve enjoyed the hot weather and long summer nights but now I’m ready for winter again. It doesn’t help that at work we’re currently getting in all our winter accessories; thick scarfs, chunky boots, fluffy hats etc.
Therefore I’ve decided to do a winter fashion wishlist with Esprit! I want to buy alllllll the winter wear…

Formidable Joy | UK Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Blog | Fashion | Winter fashion wishlist with Esprit | Esprit | Wishlist

ONE
First of all, I’m loving this casual deep red jumper. It looks like a really good fit and that it’s thick enough to keep warm but thin enough to not be too overbearing which is a common issue with winterwear I find. I actually don’t own any basic winter jumpers; only corny Christmas ones or patterned seasonal ones so a basic one like this would be more versatile.

TWO
This stretch mini skirt is a classic which can look uber sophisticated when styled correctly. If wrong, it can look quite immature but with a sophisticated pair of knee high boots (or ankle boots with knee high socks!), it can help put together a really cute and feminine look for winter. Though only available in navy, I reckon it’s super versatile and can help achieve that perfect and classic winter look.

THREE
I’m actually really digging the preppy look lately would you believe it! It’s quite odd for me as you know I always love to dress a bit edgy if I can but the prepping look is really growing on me. Therefore I love this college style coat which is perfect for winter but also a little different than your average winter coat – plus it’s bang on trend.

FOUR
Oooh, this dress has really caught my eye, even though it’s totally different to my normal style. It’s also quite grown up looking which is unlike me. It’s super beautiful though, I love the fit and the design is really sophisticated and eye-catching too. I really like the length of it and feel like pairing it with some thick tights and chunky boots would make it just right for the colder months.

FIVE
And of course to complete the wish list a nice pair of winter boots is a must. Not so different from other boots, this pair still has the classic formalities of a winter ankle boot but still caught my eye – likely because of the buckle. Again, these are also versatile, so they’re a win in my eyes.

So there we have it; a cute mini winter fashion wishlist with Esprit. What do you think of the items featured? Let me know!

Wow – my first Look Of The Week in at least two years! I’ve been wanting to post more of these (and more fashion related posts) for so long now but LOTW’s are tough for me especially for many reasons. I’m not that stylish, I’m definitely not great at posing and it’s super hard to take outfit photos yourself.

This is where my boyfriend comes in, who I’m slowly training to be a blogger boyfriend, haha.

I’m not going to lie – I’ve worn the f*ck out of this dress this holiday. It’s lightweight and super comfortable, which I’ve loved as it’s been so damn hot. It’s also really cute and stylish in a really subtle way and I love the shape it gives me. Plus it has pockets and that’s always a win in my eyes.
I picked up the jersey dress from H&M’s basic range and found it lasted me so well. It’s available in other colours and designs too but I loved the slightly Parisian feel of this one and the fact that it’s really versatile. For just £12.99, it’s a total bargain too.

As usual, I packed lots of accessories to wear. As usual, I wore none (apart from my Fitbit and a cheap pair of sunglasses I picked up from a local shop there – as despite the fact that I own five pairs of sunglasses, I forgot them all. Maybe that’s why I own so many. I always forget to take them away with me and buy a new pair on holiday..). I didn’t even wear my anklets which is so unlike me. Still, I felt my old and trusty pair of sandals from Primark went pretty well, especially with my hot pink manicure. I felt there wasn’t really too much to add to this outfit; I really liked it’s simplicity overall and didn’t want to weigh it down or overdo it with too many accessories.

So there we have it. A simple and somewhat Parisian inspired outfit which served me well during the many hot days spent exploring Romania.
