I haven’t been shopping in so long so that when I picked up a few bargains at TK Maxx this week, I couldn’t help but do a mini TK Maxx haul post!

I’ve been trying to save money and only really shop at work (in exchange for using a £5 off voucher by handing in a bag of old clothes – so throwing out old stuff to buy new stuff!) but it’s pretty hard to not mooch into TK Maxx when I work right next door to one. Normally I’m okay since I’ve been so skint lately but I was bored on my lunch break so I gave in..oops!

Still, I got a fair bit for only £15 so I can’t really complain…

First of all I’ve picked up this sweet Max Studio nude palette. I do have a W7 palette at home already, but on a day to day basis I only use a few staple colours (which therefore run out pretty quickly) and I’ve been tempted to be a bit more creative with my daily look lately. This palette offers a whopping 24 natural shades which I can’t wait to play around with, although as the squares are pretty small I’m a bit worried it won’t last long – we’ll see. The set also comes with a double ended eyeliner (I’m forever running out of eyeliner so this helped sway my decision) and a little brush, but I don’t like using those types of brushes so will use my own. This palette was only £4.99 which I thought was a total bargain – I was expecting it to be at least ten quid!

I also picked up two mini W7 Blush With Me kits, which come in a really cute tin. I picked up two different shade sets – the first is Honeymoon, which offers four dainty and feminine rosey/natural shades, and Getting Hitched (I just realized both are related to weddings…) which shades include really natural almost-not-even-there colours, which is ideal for me as I’m quite pale. Each tin comes with a little blusher brush too, and each cost £2.99.

Finally, I also picked up a Daily Health Tracker. I didn’t find much in my favourite asile (the stationary one), but luckily spotted this at the till. It’s small enough to fit in my bag and each page is really simple and straight to the point. In the book, you can record a mini to-do list and your schedule, but health wise you have areas for goals, fitness, water intake, mood and a sleep tracker. It’s simple but meets my needs, especially as I’ve been after some sort of health tracker for a while now. This was just £3.99.

So I got a fair bit for just £15 (okay, £15.01 for those of you who might have realized it didn’t quite add up!) and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of each item. I needed a proper blusher and I’ve wanted a health tracker for ages now. The palette I didn’t need desperately, but it made sense because I’d be replacing my current one soon enough and since I want to change up my makeup a bit now that we’re in the new year, the timing is right.

What do think about my mini TK Maxx haul? Let me know!

I’m not going to lie; this is probably the first of many, many H&M haul posts since I started working there again – but more on my new job later. In the meantime, having worked there for around two weeks now, I finally gave in and used my staff discount for some goodies.
The make-up I’ll likely be keeping spare at my boyfriend’s house, but first it’s a nice little haul for our upcoming holiday in two weeks time (speaking of which, I’m looking for guest post’s if anyone is interested…)

I actually only planned to buy a bikini and tried a bunch on before eventually settling on this beautiful printed one. I was quite surprised; most I tried on fit really well which I always find surprising in shops. It’s always tough enough trying on bikini’s in the horrible lighting in changing rooms and most shops have a lot of varied sizing but H&M was really good for sizing this time. I have two patterned bikini’s to take away with me but I’m going to still keep an eye out for a more simple plain one too.

I do really love the detail on this one and the bottoms fit really nice without showing too much. I remember how much I hated shopping for swimwear ready for my Mexico trip as everything in the shops was just really revealing and skimpy so I’m glad H&M has more variety.

I bought these cute glow/highlighter pens just because they’re so damn cute. I like the idea of using a ‘crayon’ as a highlighter as I haven’t much experience with highlighters before. These look super easy to use and really versatile and subtle too.

I also purchased this simple highlight palette which has more of a variety of colours; a couple of which that can be doubled up as a blusher. I like the look of this but they looked quite glittery in my swatches so I’ll likely just use this palette for an evening look as opposed to a day-to-day one.

I’ve been after a new liquid eyeliner or so long now as the one I currently use is one I’ve had for years. I like my eyeliner to be like a felt tip and loved the look of this one, although when I took a swatch on my hand, the line seemed thicker than I originally thought. Still, with practice I think this will serve me well.

Finally, I also picked up a super cute mini brush and makeup sponge kit from the sale. The brush is sooooo soft and I chose to get a sponge too because a) it’s cute and b) currently I apply my makeup with like..I don’t even know what to call it but probably also a type of makeup sponge but it’s really flat and just ugh. So I figured I’d jump on the beauty blogger band wagon and try one of these.

I’m pretty pleased with my purchases and I think they’ll serve me well; then again I still need to actually try them out so once I do I’ll ensure I get a review up. I think they’ll do the job for the price that they cost = I’m not expecting amazing results but I am also only after make-up for an everyday look and it’s not like I’ll be putting together creative out there looks inspired by Instagram. So for what they are, they’re exactly what I need.

What do you think? Have you tried any of H&M’s beauty/make-up range? Let me know!

I haven’t done a wishlist post in so long!

I recently discovered this Wish app via a weird Facebook advert; I kept seeing an advertisement of those weird feet booties (that shed dead skin) and other odd body treatments and I don’t know why. Still, out of curiousity I clicked onto it as I actually do kind of want the feet booties and then I discovered how cheap everything on the app was!
At first I was wary, everything seemed too cheap and too good to be true. But I read through the reviews and figured it wouldn’t hurt to buy one or two things just to see if it’s legit and check out the quality as it was so cheap. I ordered a sweet black crop top to wear beneath some of my wife beater tops and although it took a while to arrive (as most things would from another country), it was great quality!
The only issue was that one of the straps was a little loose but this can easily be fixed.
Anyway. Since then, I’ve been adding items to my wishlists left, right and centre! Here’s what I’ve been eyeing up…
HOMEWARE
Formidable Joy | Formidable Joy Blog | Wednesday Wishlist | Wishlist | Wish App | Shopping | Bargain
ONE | I am loving these cute chic laundry baskets. I’ll be honest, I’ve been keeping an eye out for one for my boyfriend as he doesn’t have one currently, so I think the ‘home’ one would be ideal.

TWO | These cushions! Oh my god. There’s so many beautiful cushion covers on this app and I really like these. The problem is to not have too many clashing, but most of these are quite subtle and versatile colours. I particularly like the pineapple one.

THREE | I really love the boho vibe of tapestries; especially when they’re hung on the wall as a statement piece. There’s a few from this collection but I particularly like this colourful elephant one. Although I wouldn’t hang it above my bed, I’d probably instead hang it on one plain wall or in a reading nook.

FOUR | I’ll actually be purchasing these soon as I love the idea behind hanging bags on the wall and the more you get, the better they look together. They’re small, but perfect for ‘bits and bobs’. I’m going to buy a couple to hang at my boyfriends to keep some of my own stuff in; as I’m getting sick of lugging a huge bag of clothes, toiletries and makeup every time I go to his to stay for a couple of days. I constantly joke about how I’m slyly moving in bit by bit without him realizing..!
CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

Formidable Joy | Formidable Joy Blog | Wednesday Wishlist | Wishlist | Wish App | Shopping | Bargain

ONE | How stunning is this bikini?! I love the colours and the fact that it’s a little bit different whilst still being relatively classy. Most swimwear on the high street this year offers cut out parts, lots of gems etc and it’s just too much for me, so this more laid back but still pretty two piece is what I’ve got my eye on for my summer holiday in August.

TWO | How gorgeous do these matte lipglosses look? I still haven’t taken the plunge and splurged on any MAC lipsticks yet, so I’m going to give these a go first, as they look beautiful. I’ve just put my order in for the deep purple one.

THREE | I know, the idea of these booties sound disgusting but they have become a huge trend this year. It’s not even that I want baby soft feet – I hate my feet so I don’t care – but I’m sick and love peeling off dead skin #sorrynotsorry. The only thing is, the process is rumoured to take so long that I’d have to avoid leaving the house for a whole week…it would be worth it though..right?

FOUR | And finally, this uber cool watch. I don’t really wear watches to tell the time, only to accessorise, ha! And this would look really sweet on my wrist.

I actually found it so hard to narrow everything down for this post as there’s so much I want, I’ve actually had to take a step back and stop using it for a few days because I’m adding so much to my wishlist to buy and talking myself into it because it’s just so cheap. The homeware gadgets, in particular, are AWESOME. There’s even a thing that collects food in the sink so you don’t have to touch manky wet food, rejoice!

Although this post isn’t a collaboration of any kind and I did genuinely want to share this super cool app with you, I will note that if anyone does want to sign up, you can use my code to get 50% off your first order! (And the discounts don’t stop there, there’s promotions such as free items where you just pay shipping, items made even cheaper if you buy them within a set time and the more you use the app the more discount you get!).

So if you’d like to use the app yourself and get 50% off, you can use the code htprwlq. I do also get 50% off is someone uses it but if you know me, you’ll know I love sharing a good bargain or wishlist anyway, so you’ll know that I haven’t written this post for that specific reason. You can also find my profile here, where you can see the wishlists I’ve created & find all the items mentioned above.

I know, I know.

You don’t go on holiday to shop and I’m very rarely the type of person that splashes cash or spends a day shopping when I’m meant to be on holiday – after all, there are plenty of other things to do with your time, no?
But on one particularly rainy day at the hostel, a few of us decided to head to the local mall, although the boys immediately split to drink beer and us girls grabbed some lunch then had a mooch around the shops. Whilst there, I came across a shop called Pull&Bear which, can you believe, I’ve never heard of before?!
Formidable Joy | Formidable Joy Blog | Fashion | Pull&Bear

Apparently it actually originated in Europe and there’s plenty of shops around the UK, none of which I’ve come across before. I was drawn in by their quirky instagrammable slogan tops (I’m not big on slogans, but these were too cute to resist), H&M quality shabby-chic clothing and some edgy tops. I actually spent ages browsing and tried on so much – and I was really impressed with the sizing.
Everything seemed to fit really well or even seemed to be a bit baggy which is always good as I hate it when I go into a shop and their sizes come up really small. I only purchased three things but I’m already on the hunt for a close-by shop near home to buy more..
Anyway. Here’s what I brought.

First up is this gorgeous lightweight loose top. I’ve been after something like this for so long, especially as it’s such a wardrobe staple. I see lots of women wearing tops like this out and about, with skinny fit jeans, a leather jacket and a messy bun and I absolutely love that laid-back stylish chic look. So I’m so pleased I’ve finally got one of my own. It’s a little see-through, but I think that’s fine as it’s that kind of top. I wore this on my first day back from holiday with skinny fit jeans, sandals and a bunch of jewellery – definitely still channelling the holiday vibe.

Next is this sweet slightly preppy long sleeved top. I’ve really been digging the jersey style tops lately with coloured sleeves, so that’s definitely what drawn me to this top. I didn’t pay much attention to what the actual slogan said but when I wore this to the bank recently I actually got complimented on it, haha. It’s really casual and lightweight and so easily to just roll out of bed and throw on. It’s great for the current season too where it’s too cold for a full on sleeveless top but too hot for a jumper. Again, I’ve just paired this with jeans so far and a pair of white Primark pumps.

Finally I also bought this cute ‘bite back’ top. It’s a little cheeky but hey, it’s not sprawled out over the front of the top and is only little so I think it’s okay. Again, it has a bit of a preppy girl gang feel to it, but a more sophisticated one as opposed to the type of slogans you’d wear as a teenager. I haven’t worn this yet but I imagine I’ll vamp it up a bit when I do – maybe I’ll pair it with wet look leggings and a leather jacket for a gig.
I’m really digging this brand right now, it’s cheeky yet sophisticated and I’m definitely pleased with the above purchases – I think, once working out the currency difference, all three tops only cost me around £30 which is such a bargain, especially as they’re such good quality too.
What do you think? Have you ever shopped at Pull&Bear? Let me know!
