As always, I’ve had a steady stream of music blasting through my iPod earphones during boring bus journeys to and fro work lately; therefore giving me plenty of time to discover new music…and rediscover some old favourites. Without the need for a long explanation, here is an example of some of my favourite music from this month.
So we’ve got the new Fall Out Boy release, another ode to their comeback album that I find myself returning to every few weeks or so, a rather clubby tune from the likes of Shift K3y, both causing me to dance around at work AND on nights out, and even some rather folky songs such as Wait For Love and Blame It on Me. What can I say, I like a mixture of music these days. Music has a tendency to make you feel invincible, to make you feel as if nights are as never ending as the conversations with the strangers that turn into friends on these said evenings. While Listening to Rock & Roll and After Hours reminds me of this feeling, and when I spend evening after evening at work, this music reassures me that I’ll be back to attending gigs and partying up soon and that if you work hard then you simply must play harder!

This past weekend (and today, it seems), I accidentally found myself becoming a walking advertisement for H&M. I seem to have unwittingly dressed myself head-to-toe in the brand – not that I’m complaining. My super comfy jeggings paired with my loose but edgy top went together to create an effortlessly stylish look, and my warm winter boots kept my tootsies nice and toasty for a day spent at the beach.
Although I brought back this outfit today for this outfit post and some quiet shopping for Mamaw’s birthday, I debuted this look over the weekend when I spent some time (okay, a day and a half) in Southend. Despite arriving to torrential rain, thunder & lightning, the next day brightened up just for me it seems and so we headed down to the seafront to spend the day at the mini themepark and sealife centre.
So I chose an outfit that was comfortable but also warm and stylish of course. I think my latest H&M purchases helped achieve this!
My hair definitely looked like I’d been dragged through a bush backwards after going on the rollercoasters repeatedly…but it was worth it. We stayed until dark to see the park lit up beautifully with flood lights and multicoloured fairylights, followed by some traditional seaside chips eaten overlooking the beach.
I think my laid back but still pretty cute outfit reflected the spontanious trip away perfectly. It’s an outfit that definitely points towards just grabbing whatever is at the front of your wardrobe before rushing out of the house, but I think this kind of works and still looks really fashionable.

On Thursday I was lucky enough to attend one of the most eagerly awaited launch parties of the year – the launch of Have You Seen
Have You Seen is kind of like a cash back and deal sharing website all in one – you create an account and can make wishlists of items you want to buy, finding different deals to save money or you can log on and share your own bargain buys with your friends. What’s even better is that if someone sees a recommendation you’ve made and they go on to purchase said item themselves, you can earn money! It’s a really great idea and not one I’ve seen before. Often I find myself overwhelmed with constant shopping deals that arrive in my inbox or I find it really hard to search online for specific deals because when I do click on them, I find they’re then out of date. I’m no stranger to cash back websites either or referral websites, but it’s so great to see this all together on one simple to use website.
Anyway, I was really excited to attend the event, especially after reading all about the website because it seemed like it was right up my street. Attending a launch party of something I’m genuinely interested in sounded really fun and the evening did not disappoint! Firstly it was a nice surprise to bump into the lovely Lizzie
and the open bar was a lot of fun too. There were a lot of networking types at the event and even Ruth Mortimer (Editor of Marketing Week) gave a speech – which I loved. She spoke about how influential bloggers are which was nice. And there were also some really yummy canapes including small individual portions of fish and chips wrapped up in newspaper – delicious!
Typically, I did spend the vast majority of the night at the free bar with none other than a Canadian band who were in attendance and the girls. Only I could go to a blog event and end up spending the evening drinking with the band…but it was fun. Because they were Canadian, we had a laugh teaching them English slang words and the like. There was a magician too and somehow, every time he did a trick that surprised us, we all started shouting out ‘WHAT’ in an overly British accent thanks to the band, which quickly became our catchphrase for the night..
I had a lot of fun and felt especially honoured to be able to attend the launch of such an exciting company. I can’t wait to start earning via the website and genuinely feel it’s such a good idea – I can already see how successful it’s becoming and I feel lucky that I was able to celebrate that all with the Have You Seen team.
Have you been to any exciting launches lately? Will you be signing up to Have You Seen? Let me know with a comment!

It’s taken me a while but I’ve finally gotten around to blogging my outfit from day one of Bloggers Fashion Week! At first I wasn’t too sure what to wear, being that we didn’t have any themes this time around, but when House Of Fraser sent me this
Therapy stunning dress, I knew instantly that I’d be fashioning it at BLFW!
This textured skater dress is me all over and I absolutely adore the colour. It’s just the right length to be classy and is the perfect fit – it’s not too tight but not too baggy either. The structured shape of it shows off my figure and it’s really good quality too. The material is lovely and soft but genuinely warm – I have so many dresses that are so thin and flimsy that it’s a welcome surprise to wear something like this. The burgundy colour means its ideal for winter too and I’m already planning to wear it with some thick tights and stunning winter boots when the cold weather hits us.
It’s plain – but not boring. I had little effort in dressing it up as it’s already so pretty by itself, but I chose to add a belt to clench it in a bit (and to match my shoes too), a silver skull necklace which was a gift and just some loose bangles. Overall I was left with an effortlessly stylish look that suited me down to the T, but was also very feminine too!
It was the perfect outfit for the first day of BLFW as it wasn’t too over the top but it was still super classy. What do you think? Let me know with a comment!

One of my favourite parts about attending blogger events is checking out and discovering new brands. Meeting brands in such a laid back setting somehow always makes me love a brand more than I would usually because I often have a chance to chat to the faces behind the brand and hear about the company’s history or it’s values. It’s so nice to have a little chat with these people and put a face to a name and I often find myself much more likely to buy from a brand then, just because it’s a different way to discover them.
Bloggers Love Fashion week did not disappoint in introducing me to new people. From fashion companies to beauty brands, I was pleasantly surprised and left with a whole new shopping list developing in my mind, already just knowing where I’d be heading come payday!
Didi’s Boutique have become a firm favourite of mine and I absolutely love their stylish but affordable fashion. I managed to pick up a loose fitting coral top, a sky blue top with embellished shoulders (which I wore on the second day of BLFW and that my sister has already borrowed for herself!) and a gorgeous but daring and edgy faux leather and lace black dress. Some of their stuff ranges from casual everyday wear to more glamorous fashion for nights out and formal events – all of which is at affordable prices. I like that they do a bit of everything – and even a little bit of daring stuff too – all under one roof for really fair prices.
|Orange Pheasant Feather/Leather Slim Cuff from Sound Chick Accessories
I adore Sound Chick Accessories
, absolutely loving their feather accessories! It’s the type of thing that sounds tacky on paper but really, really isn’t. I particularly loved their glamorous hair pieces, but the pair of shoes covered in feathers were to die for as well! The wrist cuffs are particularly edgy and different, whilst the earrings are so very beautiful!
Another brand worthy of a mention is Betty’s Bikini’s
who are a fairly new company but definitely caught my eye! The lady behind it all has an array of edgy bikinis on offer – the kind of show stopping ones that you just want to show off or that you want to buy as an excuse to go on holiday. Some are covered in stylish chains, others in bling and bows. If you really want to stand out on your next holiday, then this is where you need to grab your bikini from…
|Folklore Pocket Dress Black, from Fever Designs[source]
Finally, I am also pretty much in love with Fever Designs
, a company that showcases a stunning array of clothing and some full on beautiful vintage dresses. I’ve never been a huge fan of vintage which is unusual for a blogger, but I absolutely adored some of their pieces showcased at BLFW. A lot of them had a modern twist and some of their dresses had a real funky 60s feel to them. During the task of styling our model, we made sure she tried on some of the dresses from Fever Designs and I’ve already decided on one dress I want to buy ASAP!
These are just some of the many brands I enjoyed meeting and checking out at BLFW, and are also some that really stood out for me. There are lots of brands I need to check out further and I’m looking forward to rooting through all the business cards I was given and finding out more once I have time!
What do you think of the brands I’ve mentioned in today’s post? Are you already a fan of any of these? Let me know!
